Maynard Buckles

Maynard Buckles are individually handcrafted and custom made in Thoreau, New Mexico, by skilled craftsmen with top quality materials.

THE MAYNARDS HAVE PRODUCED BUCKLES FOR THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RODEO ASSOCIATION, THE RANCH SORTING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND ARE THE OFFICIAL BUCKLE MAKER FOR THE COLLEGE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO, AND THE ALL AMERICAN FUTURITY.

Maynard Buckles began in 1981 when Ralph Maynard, a former world-class saddle bronc rider, threw his hat in the ring and began crafting the crown jewel of the rodeo world- the trophy belt buckle. He sought a buckle which epitomized the glamorous, coveted prize, yet also embraced the art and craft of the Native American Indian silversmiths. Ralph utilized the finest materials available and focused on attractive, yet affordable buckles.

These days, Ralph is spending a little more time ranching, hunting, and fishing, while his very capable daughter, Kelsi, takes over the reins of Maynard Buckles. Kelsi, a very accomplished rodeo athlete herself, was the New Mexico Rodeo Association Champion Break Away Roper in 2004 for the third time. Kelsi has shown the same dedication to the Maynard Buckle company, and now has expanded the line to include spurs, knives, jewelry, gifts and accessories.

Maynard buckles and accessories typically consist of 16 gauge sterling silver or sterling filled material. The designs, events and lettering are generally made out of 22 gauge jewelers gold filled, jewelers gold, copper, sterling overlay, sterling silver or 10 carat gold filled material. Maynard employs over 30 local craftsman, goldsmiths and silversmiths.
